Program Name:
Daytop Village – ADU
Category: Intake for Residential placement – youth
Length of Stay – up to 30 days Target Clients: Male adolescents aged 12-20
Payment: Public Assistance, Insurance, Medicaid, Self-pay
(Sliding Fee scale based on family income)
Description: Adolescents enter the Daytop program with a
myriad of issues compounded by substance use. Residential
treatment provides in-depth, full time exposure
to a structured lifestyle. The curriculum integrates educational, clinical,
and social activities, and is designed to teach responsibility and life management
skills.
The ADU serves
as the entry unit for the Daytop adolescent program. Our standard
criteria for admission is based on a client’s need for chemical dependence
services evidenced by recent unsuccessful attempts at abstinence; a history
of prior treatment episodes including the inability to complete outpatient
treatment; and/or substantial deficits in life skills. Clients are traditionally
referred through school guidance counselors, court programs, outpatient
programs and family members. During the
approximately 30 days that clients reside at the ADU, a multi-disciplinary
staff performs an extensive educational,
psychological, medical and legal evaluation. Clients are also
introduced to the rules and regulations as well as the day-to-day
activities of the therapeutic community. At the end of the process
the staff, together with the clients’ family, formulates
a treatment plan and the client is rotated to one or the other
of the adolescent facilities.
